Ireland scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park showed his class at the final whistle following his side’s thumping win over England at Twickenham in the Six Nations this afternoon.
The men in green ran in five tries as they dismantled Steve Borthwick’s side 42-21 in an emphatic win to remind everyone what they are still capable of.
Gibson-Park was named Man of the Match, scoring the opening try in one of his finest performances for Ireland, but he showed in true class when he was interviewed after the game.
The 33-year-old paused the interview to congratulate his opponent, Maro Itoj,e on his 100th cap, before saying a word about his or his team’s performance on the day.
The pair toured together over the summer to Australia with the Lions and Gibson-Park could say nothing but good things about the England captain.
“Sorry, can I just start off by saying I want to congratulate Maro on his 100 Tests,” he said.
“It’s a pretty phenomenal feat. He’s a great bloke and a great player.
“I had the privilege of sharing the summer with him. He’s an unbelievable player, leader and person and I just want to congratulate him firstly.”
