For those of you who attend Munster matches in Thomond Park regularly, you more than likely don’t really appreciate what you have. And that’s not an insult. When you’re part of something for so long, you don’t know really know any different.
It’s not until you hear about other people’s experiences at the famous Limerick ground that you realise just how special a stadium it really is. And for those of you who have yet to experience it, perhaps these comments will convince you to finally make the trip.
Former England, Lions and Harlequins winger Ugo Monye was at the Champions Cup game between Munster and Exeter this past weekend on punditry duty for BT Sport. And he couldn’t praise the place enough.
“I was at Thomond Park on Saturday… and you don’t really appreciate it until you are there. And for a lot of players, supporters, fans who have not been there, it is one of the best atmospheres that I’ve ever probably appreciated and that I’ve witnessed. It is unbelievable.” Monye said on BBC’s Rugby Union Weekly
“I’d liken Munster fans to Liverpool fans at Anfield. It’s that good. It’s electric, it’s unbelievable.”
And if that hasn’t convince you. Check this review out from a travelling Exeter fan. An unparalleled experience.
