Not impressed.
Ireland head coach Andy Farrell has hit out at the ‘keyboard warriors’ who have targeted Sam Prendergast and Jack Crowley as the debate at 10 rages on.
Prendergast started at 10 against Italy, but didn’t exactly have his best game in a green shirt, before Crowley was introduced in the 56th minute to a huge ovation.
Crowley helped turn the tide when he came on, immediately playing a huge role in Rob Baloucoune’s winning try, with many fans now calling for the Munster outhalf to start against England.
But Andy Farrell has lashed out at the abuse aimed at the pair online in the aftermath, as the country continues to be divided on who should be wearing the famous 10 jersey for Ireland.
“Do you know what, I might be talking out of school here, but in my opinion, for what’s gone on over the last year or something, especially with the keyboard warriors, I think people need to ask themselves, really, sometimes, ‘Are we Irish? Do we want people to do well or not?” Farrell said.
“Because it can be tough for these kids, like, you know? I’ve seen it, to-ing and fro-ing with both of them, and both of them are strong characters.
“It takes a lot to break kids like that. But I’ve seen it affect people. So the keyboard warriors on Twitter, or whatever you call it now, need to cop on and try and help these kids.”
