Munster confirmed back in May that fan favourite BJ Botha would not be renewing his contract with the province.
World Cup-winner Botha joined Munster from Ulster in 2011 and went on to win 111 provincial caps, scoring four tries.
Injury has curtailed the 36-year-old’s season, his last appearance coming in the European defeat away to Stade Francais at the start of January when he ruptured an ACL.
Having revealed he would like to continue playing, we can now exclusively reveal that Botha is currently holding talks with newly promoted French side Lyon OU.
Lyon won the 2016 PRO D2 and will compete alongside the French elite next season in the Top 14. Lyon have already captured Toulon versatile back, Delon Armitage and will look to add some experience in the front row in the shape of Botha.
