England’s Six Nations meeting with Ireland has gotten off to the worst of starts for the home side following a red-card after just 82 seconds.
The second-row came in high on his lock counterpart James Ryan with just over a minute on the clock, clashing heads with the Leinsterman and forcing him off the pitch.
Following a review, the officials were left with no choice but to send off Ewels.
Minutes later Ireland bagged the opening try of the game through James Lowe and currently lead 8-0.
After just 82 seconds, England are down to 14 men. Charlie Ewels receives a red card for this challenge on James Ryan.
