Eben Etzebeth’s return ends in disaster after just one game
Sidelined.
Eben Etzebeth’s season just took another turn after playing just one game following his return from a 12-week ban for gouging.
The towering lock returned for the Sharks’ Challenge Cup last 16 tie with Connacht earlier this month, but sustained an injury in that game that has now ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
A Sharks spokesperson has confirmed to Independent Media that Etzebeth suffered a hip injury in that fixture and now faces two months on the sidelines, ending his domestic season.
His next goal now will be to get fit for the Springbok season that gets underway on July 4, against England in Johannesburg.
With fellow lock RG Snyman currently sidelined with a serious knee injury too, Springbok boss Rassie Erasmus will be hoping Etzebeth makes it back for their busy summer schedule.
