Dan Carter could be set for an emotional return to the international stage. The Barbarians have invited the legendary All Blacks superstar to top the bill for their match against England on May 28th in Twickenham according to The Rugby Paper.
Carter retired from international rugby 18 months ago at Twickenham, starring in the All Blacks World Cup final win over rivals Australia.
“We very much hope that Dan will be able to accept our invitation.” A Barbarians source told The Rugby Paper.
Whether or not Carter can accept the invitation hinges on Racing 92’s game against Stade Francais today. Racing are currently in a play-off spot, but could drop out if they lose this afternoon. Should they make the play-offs, which start on May 20th, the Barbarians will keep their invite open in case of a late acceptance
