Connacht Close In On The Signing Of An Outhalf On Short-Term Deal

Connacht are closing in on an outhalf on a short-term deal as they look to combat their current injury crisis.

Jack Carty was the western province’s only fit outhalf heading into Saturday’s clash with the Osprey’s, but limped off before half-time, leaving Lam no choice but to put scrumhalf Caolin Blade in at ten.

Lam moved to bring in centre Tom Farrell this morning and is now set to complete the signing of Irish outhalf Steve Crosbie according to The42. The 23-year-old has been with Munster most recently, having joined the southern province on a three-month development contract in Octobe, but did not make a senior appearance.

Crosbie originally came through the Leinster academy, making two senior appearances for the province, but did not secure a senior contract. He then moved to New Zealand last year to play Heartland Championship rugby for Wanganui.

Connacht are also without Marnitz Boshoff and Shane O’Leary, leaving Lam no option but to bring in another outhalf.

Tighthead prop John Andress also came onboard at Connacht last month, only a short time after announcing his retirement from professional rugby after an difficult spell with Munster due to injury problems.
