Brian O’Driscoll Has A Bit Of Craic With Aussie Stars As He Scoops Special Award

At least an Irishman did pick up one gong at last night’s World Rugby Awards in London.
While New Zealand’s Dan Carter was honoured with the top prize – player of the year – former Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll was recognised for his services to the game as he received a special merit award.
O’Driscoll played a whopping 141 Tests for his country and the Lions between 1999 and 2014. Australian Nathan White also scooped a special merit award alongside O’Driscoll.
It seems a good night was had by all with O’Driscoll taking to Twitter to say: “Quote of the night to @NathanSharpe5 – after 6 weeks in the UK my liver feels like @pocockdavid’s face looks!.”
O’Driscoll added: “He’s (Nathan White) been a real champion of the game, a great guy but a phenomenal player so to be able to share a moment like that with a player of his calibre makes it more special.”
And on this year’s tournament, O’Driscoll said: “It’s been an exceptional tournament. I’ve been involved in four myself and this definitely looks as though, from every perspective, that it’s eclipsed all of those.”
