Bookmaker Pays Out On Ireland Winning The Grand Slam

Ah feck off.

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has paid out on Ireland winning the Grand Slam, before a ball has even been kicked in Twickenham.

England host Ireland tomorrow afternoon, with Joe Schmidt’s men undefeated in the Six Nations so far this season, and chasing a first Grand Slam in almost a decade.

Ireland were 7/1 to complete a Grand Slam before the tournament began. Any punters that backed Schmidt’s men stand to make a tidy profit, even if Ireland fail to complete the ‘Slam tomorrow.

Asked about the pay-out spokesman Paddy Power said:

“It’s been a great week for Irish beating the English at Cheltenham, and we wanted to reward our patriotic punters on St Patrick’s Day who have backed us in the rugby, too.

“Beating England at Twickenham would be no mean feat, but Joe’s boys have proved they have balls during this campaign, and I hope this gives them some Bank Holiday spending money to celebrate a Grand Slam with.”

Cheers Paddy. You’ve jinxed it now.
