Ben Te’o says there’s no better man to lead Worcester next season than Ireland and Munster legend Donncha O’Callaghan.
O’Callaghan stepped in as captain for the struggling English side earlier in the season and has been praised by fans and teammates for his brilliant leadership skills that have seen Worcester’s fortunes improve in the league.
The 38 year-old lock forward, who spent 17 years at Munster, is out of contract at Sixways at the end of this campaign. Worcester however are reportedly keen to extend his deal, with the ball in the Irishman’s court.
“Donners is a very good captain,” said Te’o
“Donners is very impressive when he talks and has a wealth of experience,
“He has many caps for Ireland, been with the British Lions and on winning teams. He knows what a winning team looks like.
“I think before he was just sitting back and letting other people run it but now he’s running it, he’s doing a really good job.”
Te’o admits he doesn’t know what O’Callaghan has planned, but hopes he will stay.
“I think the group responds really well to him and I think he’s the right man for the job.”
“I am not sure what’s happening next year with him.
“I would love him to stay around because I think he’s a really impressive captain.”
Munster could do with O’Callaghan back home considering their lock struggles. Make the call Rassie!
