All Blacks captain Ardie Savea has revealed his new club

Done deal.

All Blacks captain Ardie Savea has confirmed his next move, with the superstar back-rower set to join the Blues for the 2027 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Savea has signed a one-year deal with the Auckland-based franchise following the collapse of Moana Pasifika, where he spent the previous two seasons.

The move represents another major change for the 32-year-old, who spent the majority of his career with the Hurricanes before making the switch to Moana.

And Savea admits joining the Blues is something he could never have imagined earlier in his career.

“If you told me 10 years ago I’d be playing for the Blues, I’d laugh at you,” Savea said.

“But that’s the beauty of rugby and life – things change, and I’m really grateful for this opportunity.”

The move will see Savea link up with the Blues during a hugely important year for New Zealand rugby, with the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia taking place later that season.

Savea believes a new environment can help him continue developing while ensuring he remains fresh heading into the tournament.

“I’m excited to learn, grow and contribute to the Blues environment,” he said.

“For me, it’s about continuing to challenge myself, stay fresh and be the best version of myself heading into the World Cup.”

Savea is currently recovering from the shoulder injury he suffered during New Zealand’s recent four-Test series against South Africa.

He dislocated his shoulder during the third Test against the Springboks at FNB Stadium and subsequently underwent surgery, ruling him out of the upcoming Bledisloe Cup series against Australia.

The Blues move means Savea will remain in New Zealand throughout the build-up to the World Cup as the All Blacks look to reclaim the trophy for the first time since 2015.
