Former England captain Owen Farrell has played his final game for Saracens following their Gallagher Premiership semi-final defeat to Northampton Saints on Friday night.

Farrell stepped down from England duty at the beginning of the year, missing the 2024 Six Nations, before announcing a move to French giants Racing 92.

He’s set to become the latest big name to wear the 10 shirt at Racing, following in the footsteps of the likes of Johnny Sexton, Dan Carter, and Finn Russell.

Remarkably, Farrell played his final game for Saracens on one leg, with boss Mark McCall revealing he had a quad tear going into the game.

“He had a quad injury. There is a small tear in there so he was never going to kick. He wasn’t going to be kicking for touch or goal,” McCall said.

“We weren’t sure if he was going to play, to be honest.

“It’s quite remarkable that he was on one leg, we had a fly-half who couldn’t kick and we were still able to stay in the battle.

“It’s incredible for him in his final game at Saracens to do that for the team.”

While he couldn’t push his team over the line, he was by far one of the best players on the pitch and whether you like him or not – you’ve gotta respect him.
