Leinster and Ireland fullback Hugo Keenan is set to return to Rugby 7s ahead of the Olympics this summer in a bid to win gold.
As reported by The42 and RTE, Keenan will miss Ireland’s summer tour of South Africa, and instead represent his nation on the sevens circuit in France.
Should he come through this weekend’s Champions Cup final, he is expected to be included in James Topping’s squad for next week’s leg of the World SVNS Series in Madrid.
Keenan previously spent two years playing in the Ireland Sevens programme from 2017 to 2019 before breaking into the 15-a-side version of the sport with Leinster and Ireland.
He joins the likes of Antoine Dupont and Michael Hooper in playing Olympic 7s this summer.
