“Unacceptable.”
Former All Blacks boss Ian Foster has hit out at the Springboks over their style of play at last year’s Rugby World Cup final.
Foster’s New Zealand side were defeated 12-11 by South Africa in the final in France last year to become the first team to win four World Cups and the first to retain the title since the All Blacks in 2015.
Foster has thrown shade at the Boks, accusing them of “deliberately” slowing the game down, stating that the amount of time it took to play the final was “unacceptable” in his opinion.
He said the players and coaches need to “take ownership” to ensure it doesn’t happen going forward.
“The time that the final took is unacceptable,” he told the Post NZ.
“The game understands that they need to change it.
“So, now it’s how we commit to doing it.
“But, I think the other side of the coin is that we’ve all got to take ownership of that.
“Coaches have to take ownership of that and players have to take ownership of that too.
“We can’t allow players to get to the point that they feel they can slow the game down deliberately, because it was happening too much at the World Cup.”
