Eddie Jones’ injury list is really starting to pile up.
Chris Robshaw, Manu Tuilagi and Billy Vunipola are already set to miss the Six Nations, with Mako Vunipola also a doubt as he awaits a scan. Jones remains undefeated as England coach but faces his first real tough spout of injuries.
Harlequins front-row Joe Marler is the latest casualty to the England set-up, after picking up a suspected fractured leg. He now looks set to miss the entire Six Nations, potentially leaving Jones without his first two choices at loosehead.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Marler may return for the second half of the Six Nations, but Jones may be forced to hand a first test start to Leicester prop Ellis Genge for the opening games.
Ireland’s injury problems were well documented last year, and we saw the effect it had on them. Will it have the same effect on Eddie Jones’ England?
