Deliberate?
Ireland were undone last night by the All Blacks in a very physical encounter at the Aviva. New Zealand have been highly criticised for their performance that for many was hugely cynical, and just simply dangerous.
World Rugby recently gave new directives to referee’s to clamp down on any tackles or challenges that put a player’s head at risk in any way. The All Blacks were involved in a number of challenges last night that were very questionable.
Simon Zebo and Robbie Henshaw both suffered vicious head challenges with the latter being stretchered off wearing a neck brace. Another man who left the field early was Munster back-row CJ Stander.
The South African born star suffered a concussion in the first-half thanks to a no arm shoulder charge by All Blacks winger Israel Dagg. The argument can be made that Stander is the kind of ferocious ball carrier that leads with his head and body on the line at all times, but we suspect a bit of malice in these clips.
Have a look for yourself and let us know what you think.
