Wow.
The All Blacks are currently on a record-breaking test win record and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. The back to back World Champions have become the most feared team in the history of World Rugby and in many people’s eyes are the best sporting team the world has ever seen.
This weekend the next team to be fed to the mighty All Blacks will be Joe Schmidt’s Ireland in what is promised to be a fiery affair in light of Ireland’s heartbreaking loss last time round in 2013, thanks to a late Ryan Crotty try.
Ireland will no doubt be up for the occasion but looking at this latest statistic sources by SportsJoe, they may be a little worried.
Of the top five try-scorers for 2016, all five are from New Zealand.
The year’s top scorers are:
Israel Dagg: 8
Ben Smith, Beauden Barrett, Julian Savea: 7 each
TJ Perernara: 5
To make matters worse Dagg and Perenara have not even been selected in the starting line-up. Their ‘stand ins’ are Ben Smith and Aaron Smith.
Ireland’s top try-scorer in 2016?
Conor Murray on 4, followed by Jamie Heaslip on try.
At least we’re guaranteed tries this weekend? The only problem is they may only come from one side. Johnny Sexton better have his kicking boots on.
