These both look nasty.
New Zealand romped to a convincing victory over Australia in their Rugby Championship opener, but suffered some nasty bangs along the way.
Just two minutes into the game, centre Sonny Bill Williams appeared to be knocked out while making a tackle on one of his Australian counterparts, while late in the second-half the game had to be stopped after Wyatt Crockett also suffered a nasty head knock.
Perhaps the more worrying of the two is the bang suffered by Williams. Crockett was removed from the field, and took no further part in the game, while Sonny Bill didn’t even receive treatment.
The issue of head injuries has been a huge talking point in recent months, with World Rugby making amendments to the HIA rule, which came into effect for the first time during that game.
Williams should have left the field for examination and perhaps the All Blacks medical team should be made accountable.
