David Pocock’s game against England was his last for at least 18 months in a Wallabies jersey
The world class back-row star will now begin a year long sabbatical as part of an experiment by Australian rugby to ensure their best players are rested and re-energised after a gruelling couple of years on the international scene.
Pocock is expected to continues his studies during the break with the Brumbies star set to enrol in Cambridge or Oxford university. He will play some rugby however, having signed a second, lucrative three-season deal with Japanese Top League club Panasonic Wild Knights, but will return to the Brumbies and Wallabies for the 2018 season.
He may have seen his side lose yesterday to Eddie Jones’ England, but left us with the kind of highlight he’s become synonymous with. During the second half, Pocock went on one of his famous monstrous runs, absolutely sitting down Saracens and England back Owen Farrell.
Check it out below. Pocock will be missed.
