Wales Star All But Confirms Leigh Halfpenny’s New Club

Wales and Scarlets centre Jonathan Davies says Leigh Halfpenny’s impending move to the Scarlets will hurt Cardiff Blues.

Davies all but confirmed Halfpenny’s next destination in an interview with BBC, stating that the PRO12 champions seem to have ‘sneaked it.’ Halfpenny has been without a club since being left go by Toulon at the end of the season.

Cardiff had offered him a deal a few months back, but a disagreement over the length of the deal scuppered negotiations. The Blues however were said to have renewed their interest when he was released by Toulon, but Halfpenny looks set to turn down his old club in favour of a move to the Scarlets.

“I’m not sure how the Blues are feeling, because they were the ones that I thought were going to sign him with the WRU,” Davies told BBC Sport.
“So I’m sure they’re not very happy with the whole situation. I’m not sure what happened there but it seems the Scarlets have sneaked it under their noses.
“Scarlets by winning the PRO12 would have been a bigger incentive maybe to go there. He’s a Gorseinon boy so he’ll be moving closer to home, so you can see the attraction there.
“It’s a great move for Scarlets and it’s great for Welsh rugby, because you want to see your best players playing at home.”
