This Year’s Champions Cup SF Attendances Compared To Last, Shows The Power Of The Irish

The Irish are back, and boy did the EPCR miss them.

Leinster and Munster returned to the knockout stages of the Champions Cup this season with both their quarter final clashes selling-out. It’s now been confirmed that both of their semi-finals are complete sell-outs too

Munster’s last-four clash with holders Saracens will go ahead in Dublin tomorrow at a packed Aviva Stadium while all available tickets have also been sold for ASM Clermont Auvergne’s showdown with Leinster Rugby at the Matmut Stade de Gerland on Sunday. Over 90,000 fans will attend both games.

When you compare that to last year, Saracens’ semi-final with Wasps only attracted 16,820 fans, while Leicester and Racing played in front of 22,148 fans- a combined total of less than 39,000 fans.

That’s an extra 51,000+ fans! Probably most, if not all Irish! Incredible.
