Tadhg Furlong’s Typically Brilliant Response As To Why His Family Couldn’t Be In Chicago

This man is as Irish as they come.

Tadhg Furlong was a special guest on Second Captains last night and the Ireland and Leinster tighthead did not disappoint. Not only did he reveal that the Irish Rugby team have given him a brilliant new nickname ,thanks to Joe Schmidt, he also gave us some brilliant reasoning for his family not being in Chicago.

The first topic of conversation when he came on stage, naturally was Ireland’s famous win over New Zealand in Chicago, in which Furlong player an absolute stormer. The front-row tried to explain how good the moment was and how he wanted to soak it all in.

“I remember just walking around and just saying ‘Jesus it can’t be this good all the time’ and I have to remember this, because these sort of days aren’t gonna come around very often.

Then the topic of his family not making it over to Chicago to witness him make history was brought up, and Furlong, in his now typical fashion gave us the most Irish reason you will ever hear.

“My father wouldn’t be the greatest with flying.”

“He’s a farmer as well so he’d tend to have a bit of trouble getting the right fella to look after the cows when he’s gone.”

When asked did he get a chance to speak to them afterwards, Furlong went on to say that his father doesn’t own a mobile phone but thankfully the mother was onto him as ‘she just got the hang of WhatsApp.”

What a legend. Tadhg Furlong we salute you sir. As Irish as they get.
