There’s only three weeks to go until Ireland’s first test in South Africa since 2004 and some fans aren’t gonna be happy with Joe Schmidt’s expected squad.

Both Peter O’Reilly and Brendan Fanning both reported in the Sunday papers today that there will be some hugely notable absentees in Joe  Schmidt’s squad for the three-test tour.

First-up as expected, Ian Madigan is set to lose his spot as a result of his move to France. The good news however is Stuart Olding is set to get his chance. The bad news however is Stuart McCloskey is set to lose his spot in the squad and both Craig Gilroy and Gary Ringrose will continue to be overlooked.

Munster’s Dave Kilcoyne is set to get an opportunity to force his way into Schmidt’s plans in the wake of a long list of injuries in Ireland’s front row.

Probable Squad:

Rob Kearney, Dave Kearney, Andrew Trimble, Keith Earls, Luke Fitzgerald.

Robbie Henshaw, Jared Payne, Stuart Olding, Luke Marshall.

Conor Murray, Kieran Marmion, Eoin Reddan, Johnny Sexton, Paddy Jackson.
