Queensland Reds Make Move For Northern Hemisphere Outhalf

Having previously played for the Sharks on two occasions, Frederic Michalak could be on the verge of returning to Super Rugby.

Although his stints in South Africa during 2008 and 2011 were brief, Michalak remains one of the few European players to have been involved in the southern hemisphere’s elite club competition.

Nevertheless Michalak’s future at Toulon looks bleak after the French giants announced the signing of François Trinh-Duc last week. Therefore, with his contract set to come to an end next summer, the playmaker is looking to at what could possibly be his last career move.

While Midi Olympique have stated that sides such as Montpellier and Pro D2 leaders Lyon are chasing Michalak, the Queensland Reds have made contact with Michalak.

Although Michalak is now 33, he made it clear that he is not yet ready to retire, telling the French publication,

I still have two or three years to provide the highest level. I want to know other beautiful challenges and still win titles, even if I have already won. I’ve always had such objectives and continue to nurture ambitions.
