People Weren’t Happy With This Tweet From Cian Healy Last Night

Ireland and Leinster prop Cian Healy has apologised for the “ignorance on my part” after he sent a tweet which offended supporters of the Repeal the 8th movement.

The Lions prop posted a rather ill-advised tweet last night claiming that you’re not ‘alternative’ unless you’re ‘in front of a blue wall these days’ in reference to the #repealthe8th campaign.

The tweet is in reference to the mural that was painted on the side of Temple Bar’s Project Arts Centre in support of the campaign. Project Arts Centre released a statement yesterday detailing their decision to remove the mural “after receiving a warning notice from Dublin City Council Planning Department that the work is in violation of the Planning & Development Acts.” This caused outrage in Ireland, with many posting pictures of themselves in front of the wall in protest.

Healy’s tweet received massive backlash as expected.

Healy, in fairness to him, came out this morning and apologised for the tweet and any offence he caused.

Heal

Fair play Cian.
