In a massive coup for Australian rugby, skipper Michael Hooper has agreed new bumper contract with the Australian Rugby Union (ARU), that will see him remain down under for the next five years.
The deal is worth a reported AUS$6,000,000 to Hooper, and means he is tied down to Australian Rugby until after the 2023 Rugby World Cup – at the very least.
It’s the longest ever deal put on the table by the ARU, and proves just how rated the 26-year-old is by his home nation. It follows a precedent set out by some English clubs, with Owen Farrell recently signing a 5-year deal of his own. Something that is relatively new to rugby.
