This Is The Ireland Team We Want To See Start Against England

Grand Slam at stake.

Ireland face England at Twickenham with the 2018 Six Nations championship already secured. But the job is only half done, with Ireland chasing their first Grand Slam since 2009.

England meanwhile are seeking to avoid three consecutive Six Nations defeats for the first time since 2006. But despite their current form, they are still undefeated at Twickenham under Eddie Jones.

The good news for head coach Joe Schmidt though, is Ireland emerged from the Scotland win with no fresh injury concerns. This is a first for Ireland at this year’s competition, having lost key players such as Josh van der Flier, Robbie Henshaw and Chris Farrell to injury in the wins over France, Italy and Wales.

That being said, Schmidt doesn’t have a whole lot to do this weekend in terms of his selection. They only real choice he has to make is whether he starts Toner or Henderson.

Personally I’d prefer to see the Ulsterman restored to the starting line-up in place of his Leinster compatriot. There’s absolutely no way you can drop James Ryan give his form throughout the competition.

Elsewhere, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The starting line-up is perfect as is and the replacements bench made a real impact against Scotland.
