The IRFU and Leinster have announced that Devin Toner has signed a three-year deal which keeps him at Leinster until at least June 2020.

Toner made his senior Leinster debut against the Border Reivers in January 2006 and has since made 187 appearances, scoring three tries.

He made his Ireland debut in the 20-10 win over Samoa in November 2010 and has won 42 caps for his country including the recent trio of victories over southern hemisphere opposition.

IRFU Performance Director David Nucifora stated Toner is a top class star and has been outstanding the past number of seasons.

“Devin is a top class international second row and has grown into a leader for both Ireland and Leinster. His performances for Ireland over the past number of seasons have been outstanding and he continues to show growth and an appetite to develop his game,” Nucifora said.

Toner said he is delighted to have re-signed and noted it was an exciting time to be involved with the province.

“I am delighted to have re-signed with the IRFU and Leinster. There is a huge amount of talent coming through at Leinster and it is a really exciting time to be involved with the province.

“There is a real opportunity to be successful at both provincial and national level over the coming years and I look forward to playing a part in helping to achieve that success.”

How important is Toner to Ireland & Leinster? Will he make the Lions squad next summer if he continues his good form?
