Injury Update: Rob Kearney’s Knee Injury Could Be Worse Than Initially Feared

Ireland v South Africa - Guinness Series

Leinster scrum coach John Fogarty confirmed on Monday that Rob Kearney would miss this weekend’s trip to Edinburgh as a result of a knee problem.

Full results from the scan are due and Kearney may require another when the swelling goes down further. Fogarty stated on Monday that he did not expect the knee injury to be a long-term concern, however reports coming in today suggest Kearney may be out for a considerable length of time.

It is now believed that he may not feature October’s Champions Cup and faces an extended period on the sidelines. As soon as we know more, we’ll be sure to update you on the situation.

The good news for Leinster fans however comes in the form of Jamie Heaslip, Sean Cronin, Jack McGrath and Devin Toner- who are all available to head coach Leo Cullen for the Edinburgh game. Sean O’Brien’s return is also said to be very close, with Sexton only another couple of weeks away from a return.
