Ian Madigan Reveals Why He Was Reduced To Tears Following France Game

Despite the injury woes Ireland suffered during yesterday’s game against France, Joe Schmidt’s men were fantastic during their hard-earned 24-9 victory.

The substitutes who came on for the likes of Johnny Sexton, captain Paul O’Connell and Peter O’Mahony had big boots to fill.

One man in particular who stood out was Ian Madigan.

Madigan took over from Sexton after 26 minutes and ran the show with complete composure.

Three minutes after coming on he was called on to hit a penalty beyond France’s 10 metre line.

Madigan nailed it, thus calming his own nerves giving Ireland a 9-6 lead just short of the half hour.

The full-time whistle saw players, managers and fans overwhelmed with emotion.

Madigan was one who could not hold back the tears.

The Leinster star took to Instagram to explain why he was so overcome with emotion.

Incredible support from home and in the Millennium yesterday.

Seeing mum and dad got the better of me at the end.
