Highly Rated NFL Prospect Rejects Draft To Pursue Dream Of Playing Rugby

Keep an eye out for this guy.

Psalm Wooching was a highly rated college football prospect expected to be part of the NFL draft, but turned down the opportunity to live the ‘American dream’ in favour of chasing a rugby union contract.

Wooching is of Samoan heritage and is now being represented by former Ireland coach Eddie O’Sullivan. He has just returned from a trial Top 14 side Pau and is currently planning his rugby union career.

O’Sullivan is said to be weighing up several trial options as they await a response from the French side.

“I could’ve entered the draft and I could have had the American dream that every kid wants,” Wooching tells ESPN.
“But there was something in me that was telling me that it wasn’t my future. I tried to get rid of that nagging feeling, but I knew that it was time to hang up the pads and transition to something else.”

The 23 year-old currently weighs in at 230 pounds, and stands at 6’4. He can operate in the centre or the wing and apparently has some serious pace.
