Fallen French Giants Relegated To Third Division Over Financial Problems
Once giants of French rugby Biarritz have been relegated to the third division in France because of ongoing financial problems.
The four-time Top 14 winners having been plying their trade in the second tier (PRO D2) of French rugby since 2014, having last won the top division title back in 2014.
They also reached two European Cup finals (vs Munster in 2006 and vs Toulouse in 2010), but have fallen on some serious hard times in the last few years.
The LNR previously asked them to come up with €1 million to ensure an adequate budget for the 2018/19 season, but it now appears they have been unable to do so. They have seven days in which to appeal to the French rugby federation over their relegation.
