EPCR Release Statement Following Saracens ‘No-Show’ For Season Launch

Disappointed.

Saracens could be in even more trouble – this time with the EPCR after they failed to show at today’s official 2019/20 Season Launch of the Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup in Cardiff.

The English side are no doubt still reeling from yesterday’s punishment handed to them by Premiership Rugby for breaching the salary cap, but ‘no-showing’ at today’s event isn’t going to do them any favours.

Premiership Rugby handed them a fine in excess of £5m as well as a 35-point deduction, and now EPCR could be set to hand them a further fine for not sending any representatives today.

“EPCR is disappointed to learn of Saracens’ decision to make their club representatives unavailable for today’s official 2019/20 Season Launch of the Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup in Cardiff,” a statement read.

“EPCR will now consider what action is appropriate in this instance and will be making no further comment at this time.”
