Ireland’s dream is over, England are champions.
Eddie Jones has masterminded his second successive Six Nations title and equalled the All Blacks unbeaten record in the process.
Ireland’s loss coupled with England’s demolition of Scotland means they now cannot be caught in the table, but still have a lot to play for next Saturday. Jones is still unbeaten as coach, and a win against Ireland would be massive for his side.
England would lift the Triple Crown and retain the Grand Slam with a win, along with beating the All Blacks record. It would be an unprecedented day should they win. Jones however, in typical fashion is already trying to get into the mindset of the Irish camp, suggesting they have the psychological advantage.
“Ireland, psychologically, are in a very strong position,” said Jones to Sky Sports.
“They’re beaten, they’re out of the tournament and they love spoiling parties.
“And the party they’d love to spoil the most is the England party. They’ve got an enormous amount of psychological advantage.”
Next weekend’s game may not be the all to play for clash we were hoping for, but you can be damn sure it’s still going to be an entertaining one.
