Saracens have confirmed that England wing Chris Ashton will be appealing his ten-week suspension after receiving the full written decision of the independent Disciplinary Hearing Judicial Officer on Friday, January 22.

Ashton, who pleaded not guilty in the independent Disciplinary Hearing in London last Wednesday, will be appealing against the level of the sanction imposed.

The 28-year-old wing received a ten-week suspension after he was cited by the match Citing Commissioner, Yves Thieffine (France), for allegedly making contact with the eye(s) and/or eye area of the Ulster centre, Luke Marshall in the Champions Cup Round 5 match at Allianz Park in contravention of Law 10.4 (m).

Details of the independent Appeal Committee panel and the date of the hearing will be communicated by EPCR shortly.

Saracens will not be making any further comment until the hearing’s conclusion.
